yoga space at home

Today, thanks to the practices of streaming yoga or the recorded sessions, you can enjoy yoga from the comfort of your home, but for this you must have a good space for your yoga practice. Therefore, since Yoga Synchrony, we give you some tips to create a good yoga space at home.

The premises are very simple: space, air, light, calm and perseverance.

Steps to create a yoga space in your home

space (earth)

Even if they do not have much space, always try to take care of the place where you practice. By harmonizing the external you will also be harmonizing internally. Taking care of the outside just like you take care of yourself on the inside.

A harmonious space for your view invites you to ritualize the practice.

Have physical space, so that you can open your arms and legs without worrying about the furniture or breaking the glassware. The ideal would be to practice yoga always in the same place in the house. This invites you to the routine, to create a connection with that something else that we awaken with the practice of yoga.

ventilation (air)

The practice requires air, your breathing will appreciate well-ventilated and pollution-free spaces. Open the windows before and after your practice to renew the air in your space.

The incense, although necessary and pleasant, should be used once our practice ends. not during

Natural essences (oils, flowers, etc.) can help you connect to yourself, but I recommend moderate use at the end of the practice. Don't load your environment, clean it so as not to add more load to everything you take from outside.

Light (fire), essential to create a yoga space at home

Although we are lovers of natural light, it is not always available and you must adapt to your schedule. Each light leads us to a different state. Here are some tips:

  • Use nice, dim lights for evening/evening practices that invite you to go inside.
  • A lit small candle will remind you of the eternal light that shines in you.
  • If you get up at dawn, your practice begins with almost no light and ends with the awakening of the day and the sun in your heart.
  • Avoid harsh lights such as fluorescent or spotlights.
  • If you practice at sunset, say goodbye to the day with a long relaxation when the light has waned.

calm (water)

With peace of mind you will find peace of heart. Favor a quiet space where you can listen to yourself and not to the external. Interruptions will be a distraction for your mind and your perseverance.

As your practice progresses, you will be able to practice with a fly on your nose or with the noise of a washing machine without losing your center and concentration, but everything requires learning.

You can add soft music that invites you to go within while you practice, including the pleasant sounds of water: rivers, ocean waves, fine rain, a summer storm. Although the original yoga practice did not include music, it was practiced outdoors surrounded by the sounds of nature. Include them in your practice if possible.

Constancy (that which unites)

Create a space that is for you, unique, personal, that invites you to want to be there and discover your daily practice as if you were practicing every day for the first time.

I even invite you to build a small altar with flowers, stones, colors, or whatever connects you with your essence. As if you could honor yourself by seeing what fills your heart. Turning your practice and your space into a ritual for you. Caring, recognizing and evolving.

It only takes a little perseverance on your part, to make the practice of yoga grow in you. A good yoga space at home will help you do this.
