Collaboration of Sincronia Yoga with Duchenne Somriures Valents

Duchenne Somriures Valents is a non-profit organization that raises funds for research on Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy.

Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies are childhood, hereditary, degenerative diseases that currently have no cure. They affect 1 in every 4,000 boys born, although they can also rarely affect girls.

The progression of the disease that weakens all the muscles of the body as children grow, makes children dependent on a wheelchair between the ages of 8 and 12, and gradually affects their lungs, heart, hands , etc…

Duchenne Somriures Valents Since 2015, when it was founded, it has raised funds through events and activities that they organize, such as solidarity soccer tournaments, craft workshops, or participating in events organized by others such as street shops, neighborhood parties, etc...

Another source of income is the collaboration of entities that organize their own events and donate part of the profits. As is our case, that of Sincronia Yoga, which from the rental of the mats for our yoga classes, we donate them so that Duchenne Somriures Valents can continue to help research Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

So far the fundraising done by Duchenne Somiures Valents It has been delivered to the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona, to support two lines of research on the disease.

With 100,000 euros already delivered to said hospital, the association has invested in biomarker research to study the evolution of the disease, which translates into how to measure and evaluate the efficacy or evolution of the disease through said markers and also the support to the quality of life of children and their families through psychological projects of support groups between families/children/siblings and a support project in children's schools to prevent bullying, and achieve a better integration of these children in the schools.
