Shiatsu

What is it?

Shiatsu is a manual therapy rooted in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine that is based on the meridians and acupoints (but without the use of needles). This therapy works on these points through pressure applied by thumbs, elbows, hands, knees, feet, as well as by stretching and mobilizations.

In Sincronia Yoga we work with the style of Shiatsu Movement, a technique that integrates ancient Chinese medicine with body work, Gestalt psychotherapy and the body movement study (Body-Mind Centering). Using these tools we use them to work back from the symptom, to the underlying cause.

Shiatsu uses an integrated approach to body manipulation to help to release blockages, enabling the root cause to become visible. And applying techniques to realign the nervous system to operate in a healthier pattern.
